A great social occasion. The opportunity to visit somewhere different. A way to get more out of your flying.
From spring 2017 onwards. Fly outs will be held on Fridays or Saturdays, twice per month
PPL’s, aircraft owners, student pilots, instructors are all welcome. Each fly-out will be coordinated by an instructor or experienced club member. Pilots are responsible for booking a club aircraft (if required) and for their own pre-flight planning. For those who want it, we can provide guidance on a suitable route, RT calls to ATC etc.
We particularly want to encourage recently PPL’s to join. Fly on your own or team up with a friend and fly a leg each. The destinations flown will count towards the Bronze award in the Andrewsfield Flight Levels scheme.
Club members flying 4-seaters have in the past generously invited students to come along as a passenger. Even in the early stages of training, most students agree that this broadens their experience of flying and gives them a strong motivation to progress towards cross-country flying.
We aim to offer a mix of short trips (approx. 1 hour each way) as well as some longer day trips.
In past years, trips have included
• Lee on Solent for a fish and chip lunch
• Fenland for afternoon tea
• Bentwaters to visit the Cold War museum
• Wickenby for tea and a look at the museum in the tower
• Le Touquet for lunch, shopping and the beach
