Paul Bonhomme, one of the stalwarts of the Red Bull Air Race series, announced that he was retiring from the championship just days after securing a record-breaking third title at the 2015 series finale in Las Vegas.
The British pilot, who has flown in every Red Bull Air Race event since the series’s inaugural 2003 season, ends his career as the most successful ever Red Bull Air Race pilot, having taken 19 wins in his 10 years in the championship.
“I’m done with racing,” Bonhomme announced. “I have other things to do and I reckon now is a good time to stop. I’m looking forward to seeing a race – I’ve never seen one before! Hopefully you’ll find me at a race next year in a very relaxed mood enjoying the atmosphere.”
