All applicants considering becoming an FE(A) shall apply to the CAA in the first instance. If the applicant meets the UK Part-FCL requirements then they will receive a letter enabling them to complete the FE(A) course
The applicant will be assessed throughout the training course as well as during the Assessment of Competence.
The Assessment of Competence (AoC) is conducted by a UK CAA Staff FE or Senior Examiner at a mutually acceptable location
Pre-Entry Requirements
(a) hold the relevant instructor certificate, as applicable to the examiner certificate sought
(b) to examine for the LAPL(A) have completed 500 hours of flight time as pilot of aeroplanes or TMG including at least 100 hours of flight instruction
(c) to examine for the PPL(A) have completed 1000 hours of flight time as pilot of aeroplanes or TMG including at least 250 hours of flight instruction
